‘Norman Wisdom’ (Spencer)

Large-flowered white. Buds primrose cream opening to rather pinched standards, broadly waved, pure white with a cream edge and a cream dusting on the reverse. Wings pure white, broadly waved, some cream. (Unwins, 2002)

‘Oban Bay’ (Spencer) 1997

A lovely well-scented silvery blue. Standards waved, white quickly darkening to silvery blue; wings waved, turned down, colour as standards. Best in cooler areas. Strongly scented. (Chisholm)

‘Oklahoma’ (Spencer) 2000

Very dramatic, large-flowered scarlet flake. Buds yellow flushed with red. Standards not waved, or just slightly, and swept back with age. Wings have edges rolled under. Standards and wings densely streaked in deep scarlet, not quite crimson, front and back. Gives a very rich impression. (Unwins, 2002)

Dr Keith Hammett’s 1970s introduction of L. odoratus from the wild in Sicily. Short and bushy. Strongly scented.

Vibrant blue mauve. Standards strongly reflexed, gently waved, dense lavender blue and paler at the edges. Wings slightly darker, slightly waved, strongly folded down around the white keel which is tinted purple. Slightly scented.

‘Our Jenny’ (Spencer)

Bright mid-blue.

‘Our Joyce’ (Spencer)

Sparkling orange rose. Standards a very uniform pale, slightly orange rose, beautifully even on the front and silvered at the top on the reverse; pinched and waved. Wings pale, slightly orange rose, paler towards lip and noticeably paler below. Short, but sun-proof. Strongly scented. (Unwins, 1984)
